It’s a fact! Interviews can be the most daunting part of getting a new job. But this need not be the case. It is a great way for you, the interviewee or candidate, to get a grasp on the culture of the company you’re applying for. It helps you to understand more about the industry and to see where career progression should take you. You must remember that you’re already 60% of the way there. Your CV has done the job and the rest is down to you.
Don’t worry though, this is the easy bit. We will be able to guide you and prepare you for the interview.
At Imber Consulting, we find that one of the most important attributes in a candidate that is likely to impress an employer is Confidence. There are two aspects of Confidence which need to be understood. These are Confidence in being able to deal with the technicalities of the job and Confidence in oneself.
Self Confidence, but not arrogance, shows your ability to handle stressful situations and breeds reassurance in your interviewer that you are right for the position. It allows you to quickly build a rapport which puts you both at ease. It also enables you to think clearly and answer in the best possible way.
Confidence in your technical ability. It is very rare that someone without industry knowledge, market experience or industry led qualifications will walk directly into an interview and get their ideal job straight away. However, if you are able to demonstrate in an interview that you have Confidence in your own ability and the potential to do the job, you should meet the employer’s requirements, or at least earn a second interview. In order to get to that position, you will need to show careful planning and thorough preparation for the interview.
It’s basically that easy!
We at Imber Consulting believe we are able to help anyone with this. Why don’t you send us an email or give us a call and we’ll be happy to help you.
